A mother travels to an alien planet to stop her daughter’s wedding. Her daughter is to marry a collective consciousness made up of three billion beings. To the daughter, the erasure of her individual self is the price to pay for the so‑called cosmic truth. What does the mother see, though? Some viewers asked me why it feels like the daughter gains everything without doing anything. I told them, this is raw maternal love. What does the daughter need to do, or what can she do? It seems she need not do a thing. But has she truly gained everything? She has lost things that are infinitely precious to a human being.
